Border Crisis: GOP Agent Slams Dems for Protecting Sanctuary Cities

U.S. Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino made no apologies on Hannity this week when he blasted Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and other Democrats who reflexively protect sanctuary policies while crime spirals in their cities. Bovino urged Pritzker to “follow the example of Louisiana” and cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, warning that political grandstanding costs lives and makes law enforcement the scapegoat for soft-on-crime policies.

The reality on the ground is ugly and getting worse: federal teams have been carrying out sweeping interior operations in cities like Chicago and Los Angeles, detaining thousands and focusing on violent offenders and cartel affiliates, despite furious pushback from local officials. Bovino has repeatedly said the mission will continue even as Democratic leaders cry “invasion” instead of addressing the criminal element that flows across an unsecured border — and that refusal to face facts has put agents in the crosshairs.

When Pritzker and other Democrats accuse federal law enforcement of unconstitutional overreach, they’re dodging responsibility for the chaos their policies help create. Bovino didn’t mince words, calling out those governors for prioritizing political theater over public safety and making it clear that protecting Americans comes before political optics. Their sanctimony is a luxury Americans paying for with higher crime and more emboldened cartels.

Conservatives see this as a straightforward choice: enforce the law, back the agents who do the hard work, and stop creating safe havens for violent offenders. Louisiana’s tougher stance — and its willingness to work with federal authorities — should be the model for blue states that currently shelter criminal aliens instead of sending them home. It’s not about politics; it’s about protecting neighborhoods, businesses, and the brave men and women who put themselves between order and anarchy.

The Biden administration and Democratic governors can keep throwing red meat to activist bases, but when families and law enforcement start paying the price, voters remember who stood for safety and who chose ideology over security. Now is the time for patriotic Americans to demand accountability: secure the border, support aggressive interior enforcement, and stop condemning the boots on the ground for doing their duty. Our country and our frontline officers deserve nothing less.
