Bill Maher: Democrats Need Fetterman, Ditch Woke Nonsense

Bill Maher isn’t holding back on Democrats these days. The liberal comedian turned critic slammed his own party for being out of touch with everyday Americans. He mocked their low approval ratings and called out their obsession with woke politics that regular folks just don’t care about.

Democrats are sinking fast, with only 21% approval—just barely above Kanye’s old swastika shirts. Maher says the party needs to find a leader who talks like normal people, not coastal elites. He points to Senator John Fetterman as one of the few Democrats who gets it. Fetterman’s plainspoken style and refusal to bow to far-left activists make him a rare voice of sanity in a party drowning in political correctness.

California’s mess proves Maher right. Even progressive stars like him admit the state’s leaders are failing. Rampant homelessness, sky-high taxes, and botched disaster responses show what happens when Democrats run things unchecked. It’s a warning sign for the rest of the country.

Maher jokes that Fetterman and Trump have more in common than Democrats want to admit. Both hate elitism, rock unconventional styles, and trash their own parties when needed. Fetterman’s Israeli flag stunt against pro-Palestine protesters and his “I am not woke” mantra would make Trump proud. While the left attacks him, conservatives cheer his rejection of radical policies.

The Democratic base is pushing harder to the left, but voters aren’t buying it. Nearly half of Democrats now want the party to move to the center. Instead, leaders are doubling down on open borders, soft-on-crime policies, and divisive identity politics. Maher warns this could be “game over” as working-class voters flee to common-sense alternatives.

While Democrats chase fantasies like defunding the police, Fetterman focuses on real issues—secure borders, public safety, and supporting Israel. He even teamed up with Trump post-election, showing bipartisan pragmatism. That’s how you win hearts in Middle America, not by scolding them about pronouns.

Meanwhile, the party’s “next big thing” is AOC, a socialist firebrand plotting a 2028 presidential run. Conservatives laugh at the idea. Her drama-queen stunts at the border and far-left agenda alienate swing voters. Pushing her as the future proves Democrats learned nothing from their recent losses.

Maher’s take is clear: Democrats are too busy protesting and virtue-signaling to fix actual problems. Until they ditch the woke nonsense and listen to guys like Fetterman, they’ll keep losing. For conservatives, it’s just another sign that liberal policies don’t work—and voters are finally noticing.
