Biden’s Botched Afghan Vetting: National Guard Targeted Near WH

A brazen ambush unfolded just blocks from the White House on November 26, 2025, when two West Virginia National Guard members were shot near the Farragut West Metro station, leaving Specialist Sarah Beckstrom dead and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe fighting for his life. This was not a random act of violence; it was an attack on the very Americans deployed to protect our capital and enforce law and order.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who entered the United States under the Operation Allies Welcome program after the chaotic 2021 withdrawal, and who reportedly had ties to CIA-backed units in Afghanistan. The shocking revelation that this man was admitted and eventually granted asylum has rightly reopened the conversation about the disastrous vetting and resettlement policies that were rushed through under prior administrations.

The Trump administration moved decisively in the wake of the attack — ordering a review of Afghan admissions, pausing related processing, and asking for additional National Guard forces to be sent to Washington, D.C. — actions any responsible leader would take when our streets and servicemen are under threat. Conservatives should applaud quick, no-nonsense responses that prioritize American lives over reckless open-border dogma.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt made the case plainly on Hannity, warning Americans that we must not forget the threats that were “allowed in and released in by the Biden administration” and outlining the administration’s plans to re-examine Afghans admitted during the evacuation. Leavitt’s blunt defense of the Guard and insistence on accountability is a breath of fresh air compared with the moral cowardice of the political class that reflexively excuses policy failures.

Leavitt has a track record of calling out the media and Democrats when they weaponize tragedy — she previously labeled false blame-mongering about other crises “depraved” — and she brought that same unapologetic fire this week in defense of American soldiers. The press and the left would do well to stop politicking and start demanding real border security, tighter vetting, and swift removals of dangerous individuals who threaten our communities.

Patriots know that rhetoric alone won’t save lives — policy will. It’s time for sweeping reforms: stop importing risks under the guise of compassion, finish thorough vetting, and treat attacks on our troops as the national-security crimes they are. Stand with the Guard, hold the failed policies and the people who enabled them to account, and vote for leaders who put America first.
