A brave Border Patrol agent was attacked in New York City while off duty. This hero was shot during an attempted robbery but fought back in self-defense. His injuries were serious but he is expected to survive.
Two dangerous criminals have been arrested for this cowardly attack. Both are illegal immigrants from the Dominican Republic who should never have been in our country. They were released into American communities because of President Biden’s weak border policies.
The first thug, Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, snuck across our border in April 2023. The Biden administration irresponsibly let him loose instead of deporting him. He has a long criminal history that shows he was a ticking time bomb.
The second criminal, Cristian Aybar Berroa, crossed illegally in June 2022. He was also recklessly released into our neighborhoods. Sanctuary city politicians in New York ignored immigration detainers for these violent offenders.
These illegal immigrants tried to rob a federal agent at gunpoint. The officer bravely drew his own weapon to defend himself and his companion. He was shot in the face and arm but showed incredible courage.
This attack happened just weeks after another assault on Border Patrol agents in Texas. Our brave law enforcement officers face constant danger because of open border policies. Their lives are at risk every day because of this lawlessness.
President Biden’s border failures directly led to this violence. His administration released these criminals into our streets. Sanctuary cities like New York make things worse by shielding illegal immigrants from justice.
This is what happens when we don’t enforce immigration laws. Americans get hurt while criminals roam free. We must secure our borders now and support our heroic Border Patrol agents.
