Brinton was charged with felony theft last month after he was accused of stealing a woman's bag at an airport in Minneapolis. The incident reportedly happened when the woman, who was from New Orleans, went to the baggage carousel to look for her bag.
The incident occurred on September 16 when the authorities at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport were informed about a missing suitcase. The victim, who was an adult woman, said she went to the airport to retrieve her bag after arriving from New Orleans.
According to the airport records, the bag, which was a navy blue Vera Bradley roller bag, arrived at 4:40 p.m. However, it was not found in the carousel. The law enforcers reviewed the footage from the airport's surveillance system and saw Brinton taking the bag from the seventh carousel.
According to the complaint, Brinton took the bag's tag out of the bag and placed it inside a bag he was carrying. He then left the area at a quick pace. The complaint states that since he didn't check his bag when he arrived at the airport, he had no reason to go to the baggage claim area.
The woman, who estimated that the bag was worth around $2,300, confirmed to the police that it belonged to her. She also said that Brinton took the bag from the airport's surveillance footage. After checking into a hotel, Brinton used an Uber to travel to Washington, DC, on September 18. He was later apprehended when he returned to the airport with the same bag.
