A routine traffic stop in Fairfax County turned deadly when an Afghan migrant opened fire on police officers. The shooter, identified as Jamal Wali, came to America as a Taliban translator. Despite promises of a fresh start, the 36-year-old father of four raged about unemployment and bureaucratic hurdles during the stop. His angry rants about President Biden and claims of systemic racism escalated quickly.
Wali refused to cooperate with officers checking his expired inspection sticker. Bodycam video captures him screaming: “You people brought me to this country and I’m dying every day!” The veteran officers remained calm despite his threats and refusal to provide identification.
As backup arrived, Wali suddenly drew a hidden pistol. He fired multiple shots at point-blank range, striking both officers in their upper arms. Police returned fire immediately, putting four bullets in the armed suspect. The entire confrontation lasted mere seconds.
