A Texas National Guardsman Commits Suicide At A Border Post In The South

It has been reported that a member of the Texas National Guard took his own life on Tuesday while stationed near the southern border.

Fox News has been informed by several sources within the law enforcement community that the death of a Texas National Guardsman who was stationed near Eagle Pass on Tuesday morning has taken place.

The guardsman took his own life and shot himself in the head with his pistol, which ultimately led to his death.

Fox News Digital has attempted to contact the office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott as well as the Texas Military Department for more information; however, neither party has responded promptly to their inquiries.

On Tuesday, an orchard farm owner in Eagle Pass, Texas, called Fox News' Griff Jenkins to alert him of a shooting that included a member of the National Guard. Jenkins originally said on air that he had received this call and that he had covered it live on Fox News.

Fox News subsequently received confirmation from reliable sources that the gunshot was likely the result of self-infliction.

The preceding is a summary of an article that originally appeared on Fox News.
