Rep. Dan Meuser didn’t mince words on Fox Report, calling out Democrat governors and mayors who put politics ahead of public safety and bemoaning the chaos their policies have created in communities across the country. Meuser praised President Trump’s tougher posture on federal intervention in Democrat-run cities as a necessary step to restore law and order where local leaders refuse to act.
President Trump has repeatedly signaled he’s prepared to send federal resources — including federal law enforcement and even the National Guard — into cities like Chicago and Baltimore when local officials won’t cooperate, saying “we’re going in” to confront violent crime. The press has reported the administration’s moves and the predictable backlash from Democratic state and city leaders who call such interventions political and threaten lawsuits.
Meuser’s message was plain: federal authority exists for a reason, and when Democrat-run cities let crime flourish, the federal government must back law-abiding citizens, not coddle failed local leadership. Conservatives should applaud any effort that prioritizes protecting neighborhoods and small businesses over permissive politics and media-driven outrage.
On the partial government shutdown, Meuser and other GOP leaders rightly demanded an end to Democratic theatrics that have paralyzed Washington while Americans suffer. House Republicans have pushed a clean continuing resolution to reopen government and argued Democrats are staging stunts instead of governing — a point repeated by GOP leaders on the Hill.
Enough of the posturing. Speaker Johnson and other Republican leaders have urged five or so wavering Democrats to break ranks and vote to reopen the government, which would stop the pain for federal employees, veterans, and families waiting on services. If conservative lawmakers are serious about governing, they should keep pressure on Democrats and force a choice: fund the government now or own the consequences of continued brinkmanship.
Patriots know that law and order and responsible governance are not negotiable. Congress must end the shutdown, back law enforcement where local officials refuse to lead, and stop indulging in political stunts that hurt real Americans; that is the practical, common-sense conservatism Dan Meuser defended on air. The time for talk is over — it’s time to act for the good of the country.
