Trump Considers Insurrection Act Amid Minneapolis Chaos

Fox News correspondent Matt Finn and the hosts of Fox & Friends ran hard with footage this week showing the chaos unfolding in Minneapolis, including a clip of a detained individual in an ambulance who appeared to be smiling amid allegations of an attempted attack on federal agents — a reminder that what the left calls “protest” often masks a dangerous breakdown of public order. The network’s coverage has focused on the bravery of federal officers doing a thankless job while city leaders cheer on mobs.

The Biden-era sanctuary politics that swallowed Minneapolis have now collided with a federal mission: the Department of Homeland Security sent thousands of immigration agents into the Twin Cities as part of what officials called a major enforcement surge meant to restore law and order. Conservatives should applaud any effort to enforce the law, because refusing to enforce immigration statutes only invites more chaos and emboldens the very criminal elements that prey on our communities.

This all exploded after the tragic shooting of Renee Good on January 7, an episode that thrust the debate over ICE’s role and the permissive sanctuary approach into the national spotlight. While emotions run high and questions about use-of-force deserve scrutiny, make no mistake: federal officers are being attacked, vehicles have been used as weapons, and simple order has been replaced by disorder on the streets of America.

As the protests grew, so did the violence — flashbangs, tear gas, arrests and clashes between protesters and officers have become the new normal around federal operations in Minneapolis and other cities. Local officials who open their borders and vilify law enforcement cannot be surprised when civilized society frays; this isn’t sympathy for bureaucrats, it’s a warning about the cost of abandoning basic public safety.

President Donald Trump has publicly said he’s considering invoking the Insurrection Act to end the unrest in Minnesota, a drastic step that underscores how far local leaders have let their cities slip into lawlessness. For patriots who believe in the rule of law, the question isn’t whether the federal government has authority — it clearly does in extreme circumstances — but whether state and city officials will finally choose to protect their constituents rather than pander to political activists.

Let’s be candid: Democrats and woke mayors have created the conditions that forced the federal government’s hand. Their sanctuaries and moral grandstanding have invited confrontation, given cover to criminals, and turned neighborhoods into political battlegrounds instead of safe places to raise families and work hard. Conservatives must call this out, defend law enforcement, and demand accountability from the local officials who refuse to secure their cities.

Americans who love liberty and order should stand with officers doing the dangerous work of enforcing our laws and protecting our communities from violence and chaos. If that means supporting decisive federal action to restore peace where permissive local policies have failed, then patriots should not flinch — our neighborhoods, our children, and our nation’s future depend on it.
