Whoopi and Joy Defend Fraud as Trump Critics Ignore Scandal Facts

When a viral clip shows Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar shrugging off the Feeding Our Future scandal and instead spinning a conspiratorial explanation for why Donald Trump criticized the Somali community, ordinary Americans saw something chilling: a reflexive defense of identity politics over commonsense demand for accountability. The liberal media has all too often moved to protect political allies and pundits rather than grapple honestly with the facts when government programs are looted.

The Feeding Our Future case is not a rumor or a political smear — it is a sprawling federal fraud investigation that, according to prosecutors, involved hundreds of millions in false claims from programs meant to feed children during the pandemic. Investigators allege Feeding Our Future and associated sites submitted fake invoices and reported phantom meals, diverting money that should have fed kids to luxury purchases and real estate.

Federal authorities have pursued dozens of defendants and secured guilty pleas and sentences in multiple related cases, and the number of charged defendants has continued to climb as the probe widens. The scale of the alleged theft — involving hundreds of sites, kickbacks to insiders, and millions redirected overseas — ought to make anyone who pays taxes furious and demand swift justice.

Instead of mourning the victims of fraud and calling for rigorous oversight, some on the left choose to weaponize outrage at Trump as a way to dodge scrutiny. Clips of The View’s hosts pivoting immediately to condemnatory rhetoric about Trump, while glossing over massive alleged theft by people inside their preferred constituencies, expose a dangerous double standard. Conservatives are right to insist that defending communities does not mean shielding criminals or tolerating corruption.

This is about more than one scandal in Minnesota; it is about how our institutions respond when federal programs are abused and whether politicians will hold accountable those who take from the most vulnerable. Elected officials and bureaucrats who allowed these programs to be so easily exploited should face tough questions from both parties, but especially from Democratic leaders who have been all too quick to excuse failures within their coalition. Americans deserve reforms: better auditing, criminal penalties that fit the crime, and zero tolerance for using race or immigration status as a shield against prosecution.

Patriots who love this country should be incensed, not silenced by platitudes about systemic explanations that dodge personal responsibility. We can and must both defend immigrant communities and demand that anyone who steals taxpayer dollars be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Voters should remember which politicians rushed to defend the narrative over the facts when the next election comes around.
