Crenshaw Takes Bold Stand to Crush Deadly Drug Cartels

Congressman Dan Crenshaw is moving from talk to action, and hardworking Americans should sit up and pay attention. After years of politicians pretending the cartels were somebody else’s problem, Crenshaw has been tapped to lead a real Cartel Task Force in Congress — a focused effort to stop the fentanyl slaughter and restore order on our southern border.

This is not a ceremonial assignment. Speaker Mike Johnson and the House Intelligence Committee have entrusted Crenshaw with a task force designed to produce legislation and concrete tools to dismantle the cartels that have bled our communities dry. The congressman’s own office announced the move, and he’s been clear: this team will coordinate with other committees, the Senate, and the White House to get results, not another round of feel-good hearings.

Crenshaw’s plan is surgical and realistic — boost funding where it matters, give Mexico’s security forces the training and equipment they need, and expand intelligence and reconnaissance so we can choke cartel networks at their source. He’s calling for specific authorities and resources, from Department of Defense support to sharper law enforcement tools, because half-measures have only empowered these transnational criminals. This is the kind of practical, no-nonsense approach Americans expect from conservative leaders who put national security first.

Let’s be honest: the lawlessness at the border is the direct result of failed policies and feckless leadership. Crenshaw and other Republicans are rightly calling out the previous administration for ceding operational control and are demanding an aggressive, accountable response so American kids stop dying from cartel poison. If Washington won’t do its job, our communities will continue to pay the price — and that is unacceptable.

At the same time, Crenshaw recognizes that there is a genuine opening to repair relations with Mexico and turn a dangerous neighbor into a partner against a common enemy. With a new Mexican administration reportedly more willing to cooperate, the opportunity to push for a Plan Colombia-style partnership — training, extraditions, and shared operations — can break the cartels’ stranglehold. Conservatives should welcome a strategy that uses American strength and leadership to protect our homeland while respecting sovereignty.

Congress must back him with the money and authorities needed, and Republicans should be prepared to use reconciliation and other tools to fund this fight without being hamstrung by obstruction. Crenshaw’s task force has already laid out the kinds of legislative fixes and budget priorities that can produce fast, tangible results — now it’s on Congress to deliver. If you want safer streets, fewer overdoses, and a secure border, support lawmakers who actually plan to fix the problem.

This is a patriotic fight, plain and simple. Americans deserve leaders who act with courage and competence to defend our families from cartels that traffic poison and misery across our border, and Dan Crenshaw’s Cartel Task Force is a necessary step toward reclaiming our sovereignty and safety. Stand with those who put country over politics and demand that Washington finish the job.
