No Kings Protests Expose Left’s Hypocrisy on Free Speech and Inclusion

The No Kings protests have become a defining moment in the national fight over free speech and political identity, with millions mobilized across thousands of locations on June 14 and again on October 18, 2025. What started as a broad, anti-authoritarian outcry quickly turned into a sprawling movement where Democratic leaders and progressive groups took center stage — a spectacle the media treated as righteous dissent. Americans who care about fairness should pay attention when an organized movement claims the moral high ground while picking and choosing whom to treat with basic human respect.

Those large, passionate demonstrations were not without danger: videos and reporting show chaotic moments and outright violence that left communities shaken, including a deadly shooting in Salt Lake City and a hit-and-run in Southern California that put people in the hospital. The uglier side of mass politics is what happens when crowds become theaters of rage rather than forums for reasoned debate; nobody should pretend these rallies were all sunshine and kumbaya. Conservatives warned this would happen when fringe elements and poorly managed volunteer teams were handed microphones instead of accountability.

Yet amid the turmoil the left loudly brags about its commitment to diversity and inclusion while often showing the exact opposite in how it treats dissenting voices — especially Black conservatives. Instead of reflecting and policing unacceptable behavior, many Democratic-aligned organizers and public figures used the No Kings platform as a chance to demonize opponents rather than welcome debate. That’s not leadership; it’s tribalism dressed up as virtue signaling, and it deserves to be called out by anyone who actually believes in colorblind principles.

Republican leaders were right to point out the movement’s more extreme associations and the hypocrisy of those who shout “tolerance” while suppressing conservative speech, and Speaker Mike Johnson’s harsh warnings about the event’s direction were hardly plucked from whole cloth. When one side labels dissenters as “un-American” and then celebrates exclusionary rallies, it exposes a political movement willing to bend democratic norms for short-term gain. Conservatives must continue to highlight how selective outrage and fractured standards erode trust in civic institutions.

Across the internet conservative commentators and creators — from podcasters to the Hodgetwins — have been combing through footage and calling attention to moments where Black Republicans and other conservatives were singled out, shouted down, or treated as pariahs. Whether you agree with their tone or not, these creators are performing a public service by spotlighting behavior the mainstream press either ignores or excuses when it comes from the left. America’s working-class voters deserve coverage that doesn’t come with a partisan filter; when people on any side are dehumanized, the media and organizers must face accountability.

Hardworking Americans should be alarmed that the party that lectures the country about morality and inclusivity can so quickly abandon those principles when power is within reach. The conservative argument going forward is simple: demand consistent standards, protect the right to dissent, and refuse to tolerate racial or ideological exclusion from any quarter. If Democrats want to market themselves as the party of inclusion, they should start by defending the civil liberties of Black Republicans and other minority conservatives when they’re targeted at public events.

This isn’t merely about scoring political points — it’s about preserving a public square where disagreement doesn’t mean dehumanization. Conservatives must keep pressing for clarity from institutions and organizers: who’s in charge of crowd safety, who’s policing rhetoric, and who answers when a person is humiliated or threatened because their views don’t match the permitted orthodoxy. The future of free assembly depends on enforcing the same standards of decency across the aisle, holding the left to its own rhetoric, and standing with any American — especially minority Americans — who are bullied for choosing a different path.
