President Trump didn’t mince words on Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures when he pointed directly at the origin of the political mess that has ripped apart our institutions, saying Barack Obama “started the whole thing.” He reminded Americans that the scandals haunting the swamp have roots that stretch back to the prior administration, and he wouldn’t let the issue be swept under the rug.
Conservative lawmakers and voters have every right to be furious about reports that federal investigators may have obtained call logs and other sensitive data from Republican members of Congress during recent probes. Republicans have formally asked the Justice Department to look into how those subpoenas and data requests were handled, and patriotic Americans deserve to know whether government power was used to chill opposition and surveil elected officials.
At the same time, the indictment of former National Security Adviser John Bolton on 18 counts for alleged mishandling of classified information has opened another front in the swamp’s theater of selective enforcement. Bolton has pleaded not guilty and insisted the charges are politically motivated, and whether you agree with his politics or not, the uneven way the Department of Justice picks and chooses its targets is corrosive to rule-of-law confidence.
Put it all together and a pattern emerges: a permanent administrative state that weaponizes intelligence, leaks, and prosecutions against political rivals while protecting its allies. Conservatives have long warned about the abuses that came out of the prior administration’s deep-state maneuverings, and those allegations are not some fringe conspiracy but a documented series of events that demand answers.
The mainstream media that once claimed to be guardians of democracy now looks the other way when the DOJ’s actions smell of partisan retribution. It’s time for real oversight — not more press theater — and for leaders in both parties who claim to love the Constitution to insist on transparency, equal application of the law, and investigations that get to the truth, no matter where it leads.
Patriots who love this country must stay alert and vocal. Demand accountability, support officials who expose the truth, and reject the Washington class that thinks its rules don’t apply to them. Our nation’s future depends on whether we restore honest, nonpolitical law enforcement and refuse to be intimidated by politically motivated prosecutions and surveillance.
