Left’s Embrace of Antisemitism Shows Danger of Big-Government Socialism

On his weekend show America Right Now, Tom Basile sounded an alarm that should wake every freedom-loving American: the modern left is not just drifting toward big-government socialism, it is increasingly tolerating and even enabling antisemitic rhetoric in the name of activism. Basile hammered the point that this is not honest debate about policy but a corrosive moral slide that threatens our national character and the safety of Jewish citizens.

The data back him up: civil-society monitors and major news outlets have documented a surge in antisemitic incidents nationwide, many tied to anti-Israel protests and campus demonstrations that crossed the line into calls for violence and the erasure of Jewish identity. This spike is not hypothetical fearmongering — it is a measurable increase in assaults, harassment, and vandalism that can no longer be dismissed as isolated.

Campus leaders who once promised to protect all students have repeatedly failed, with Hillel and other campus organizations reporting record-high antisemitic incidents during the 2024–25 academic year. Young Americans deserve education, not indoctrination or intimidation; colleges that let mobs and radical ideology run wild are betraying parents and imperiling civil society.

The federal government has already begun to respond to institutional negligence, launching probes and subpoenas into university systems over their responses to rampant campus antisemitism and protest encampments. When taxpayer-funded institutions tolerate hate or equivocate in the face of violence, Washington is right to step in and demand accountability.

At the same moment these campus and street-level crises unfold, polling shows a dangerous softening toward socialism among large swaths of the electorate — especially on the left and among younger voters — meaning ideological sympathy for big government is growing alongside this permissive attitude toward Jew-hatred. Conservatives should not be complacent: big-government promises and moral relativism are a toxic mix that erodes liberty and sows division.

This is a fight about values as much as policy. Patriots must stand firm for free speech that protects all faiths, for law enforcement that enforces hate-crime statutes without fear or favor, and for colleges that teach history and reason rather than radical grievance. We must call out the left’s double standard — cheering woke orthodoxy while excusing the very hatred it once claimed to oppose — and refuse to fund institutions that fail to protect innocent people.

Hardworking Americans cannot afford to trade the mixed blessings of liberty for the empty promises of socialism or the moral chaos of identity-driven politics. Now is the time for voters, parents, and community leaders to demand better: elect leaders who defend Jewish Americans and all religious minorities, reject socialist schemes that crush opportunity, and restore common-sense order on our campuses and in our streets. America’s future depends on it.
