Comey Indicted: Will Accountability Finally Reach the FBI?

Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 25, 2025, accused of making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding — charges that mark a dramatic turn in a saga long watched by Americans who mistrust a politicized Justice Department. This indictment follows testimony Comey gave in 2020 and comes amid headlines that the president pushed for prosecutions of longstanding political adversaries.

On Newsmax’s Sunday Agenda, Rudy Giuliani leaned into what many conservatives have suspected for years: Comey operated above the law and his conduct during the Russia probe and the 2016 email investigation deserves scrutiny. Giuliani’s appearance underscored a broader conservative demand for accountability and a refusal to let powerful bureaucrats hide behind icons of the Swamp.

This indictment did not arrive in a vacuum; it followed political pressure from the White House and the controversial replacement of the U.S. attorney who declined to pursue charges, raising legitimate questions about timing and motive. That said, the rule of law can only survive if accountability is blind to rank and ideology, and no one should be beyond investigation when the evidence supports it.

Hardworking Americans remember how Comey’s decisions in 2016 and afterward shredded confidence in the FBI and left a stain on the department’s reputation. Conservatives have long argued that selective investigations and leaks by senior officials undermined both fair governance and the sanctity of our institutions, and now the country is watching to see whether accountability will be consistent and not merely partisan payback.

Critics will scream “political revenge,” and that charge should be taken seriously — we must guard against weaponizing justice. At the same time, Americans should not reflexively defend government officials simply because they served in high office; true conservatism means upholding law and order while restoring integrity to institutions that have too often acted with impunity.

Reports that career prosecutors objected and that grand jurors declined to indict on one count show the case will face tough scrutiny in court, as it should. Conservatives must demand a fair trial and full transparency, and we should cheer when the DOJ acts on facts rather than fury — but we should also insist that the same standard be applied to every powerful official, Democrat or Republican.

In the end, this moment is a test of whether America returns to principled governance or descends into tit-for-tat retribution. Patriots who love this country want justice, not revenge; accountability, not double standards; and a restored FBI that protects citizens rather than pursuing political agendas. Now is the time for sober, patriotic conservatives to stand for the rule of law and demand that our institutions be rebuilt on honesty, not hypocrisy.
