Another illegal immigrant is dead after attacking one of our brave ICE officers in Franklin Park, Illinois on Friday. Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez refused to follow lawful commands during a routine enforcement stop and instead chose violence. He drove his car straight into our officers and dragged one of them down the street like an animal.
This criminal had no right to be in our country in the first place. Villegas-Gonzalez entered America illegally at some unknown time and had a rap sheet for reckless driving. He was exactly the kind of dangerous criminal that ICE works every day to remove from our communities.
The ICE officer who was dragged suffered serious injuries but is thankfully recovering. He was forced to shoot this violent criminal to save his own life. Our hero followed his training perfectly and used appropriate force to protect himself and the American people.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin rightly praised the officer’s actions and called for prayers for his recovery. She made it clear that this officer did exactly what he was trained to do. He enforced our laws and protected public safety just like every American wants him to do.
What makes this even more outrageous is that attacks on ICE officers have exploded by 1000 percent. These are the men and women risking their lives to enforce our immigration laws while liberal politicians tie their hands. Every single day they face increasing violence from criminals who think they can fight our laws.
McLaughlin also called out the social media activists and liberal groups encouraging illegals to resist arrest. These dangerous videos spread lies and put both officers and suspects in deadly situations. The blood is on the hands of every activist who tells criminals to fight back against our law enforcement.
This tragedy shows exactly why we need strong immigration enforcement right now. When criminals know they can resist arrest and get away with it, they become more violent and dangerous. We cannot let lawless illegals think they can attack our officers and escape justice.
Every American should support our ICE officers who put their lives on the line every single day. They are protecting our communities from dangerous criminals who have already broken our laws just by being here. We stand with law enforcement and we demand that every illegal immigrant follow our laws or face the consequences.
