A beautiful young woman came to America seeking safety from war, only to be murdered by a violent criminal on a public train in Charlotte. Iryna Zarutska was just 23 years old when she fled Ukraine with her family to escape Russian bombs. She thought she would be safe in America. She was wrong.
On August 22nd, Iryna was riding the light rail train when Decarlos Brown suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed her to death. The attack was completely random and unprovoked. Surveillance video shows this monster calmly walking up behind her and stabbing her multiple times, including in the neck. Other passengers tried to help, but it was too late.
Brown is a 34-year-old career criminal with a long history of violence and mental health problems. He should never have been walking free on our streets. Yet somehow our broken justice system failed to protect innocent people from this dangerous predator. This is what happens when liberal prosecutors and judges go soft on crime.
For too long, we have watched as bleeding heart liberals make excuses for violent criminals. They talk about mental health treatment instead of keeping dangerous people locked up where they belong. Meanwhile, law-abiding citizens pay the price with their lives. Iryna Zarutska paid the ultimate price for their failed policies.
Our cities are becoming war zones because Democrats refuse to enforce the law. They care more about the rights of criminals than the safety of innocent Americans. This young woman survived a war in Ukraine only to be killed by the very people our justice system should have stopped.
