The city actually spent over a million taxpayer dollars trying to keep this store open. They paid for security upgrades and extra staff to stop the theft. But even with all that money from hardworking Americans, the criminals kept stealing until the store couldn’t survive anymore.
This is what happens when cities refuse to prosecute shoplifters and treat crime like it’s no big deal. Store owners can’t make money when people steal their products every single day. These liberal policies that go soft on crime are destroying neighborhoods and hurting the very people they claim to help.
The same thing is happening all across America in cities run by Democrats. Milwaukee just lost five grocery stores at once because of theft. Memphis lost a Save A Lot store for the same reason. These aren’t isolated incidents – this is a pattern of failed leadership.
City council members keep throwing more taxpayer money at the problem instead of arresting the thieves. One council member wanted to spend another $1.2 million on a store that was already failing. That’s money that should stay in the pockets of law-abiding citizens who actually pay their bills.
Now the honest people in these neighborhoods have nowhere to buy groceries nearby. They have to drive miles away or pay higher prices at corner stores. The criminals who caused this mess don’t care that they hurt their own neighbors and families.
This is the real cost of the liberal war on police and their refusal to enforce the law. When you don’t punish bad behavior, you get more bad behavior. These communities are paying the price for politicians who care more about criminals than victims.
America needs leaders who will stand up to these thugs and protect honest businesses. Until cities start prosecuting shoplifters and supporting law enforcement, more stores will close and more communities will suffer. It’s time to choose between criminals and hardworking Americans.
