The Republican lawmaker was talking about President Trump’s crime crackdown efforts on Fox News. His joke about organized crime fleeing the Windy City shows just how bad things have gotten under Democrat leadership.
Chicago has been America’s murder capital for over a decade straight. The city has led the nation in total murders for 13 years running. Even worse, Chicago has had the highest murder rate among big cities with over one million people for seven straight years.
The numbers tell a scary story about what liberal policies have done to this once-great American city. In 2024, Chicago’s murder rate was three times higher than Los Angeles and nearly five times higher than New York City. The city recovered more illegal guns than New York and Los Angeles combined. Car thefts have more than doubled since 2021.
Democrat politicians have turned Chicago into a war zone with their soft-on-crime policies. They defunded police and made it harder for cops to do their jobs. Liberal prosecutors let criminals walk free while law-abiding citizens live in fear.
Recent data shows some crimes going down in early 2025, but don’t let Democrats fool you into thinking they fixed anything. Chicago still recorded 188 murders and 665 shootings in just the first six months of this year. That means someone gets shot in Chicago almost four times every single day.
The only reason crime numbers are improving is because President Trump is finally taking action. His administration is cracking down on the chaos that Democrats created. Real leadership and tough law enforcement policies work when politicians have the courage to use them.
Chicago residents deserve so much better than what liberal Democrats have given them. Hardworking families should not have to worry about their children getting caught in gang crossfire. Small business owners should not have to board up their windows because prosecutors won’t lock up repeat offenders.
It’s time for Chicago voters to wake up and demand real change. They need leaders who will back the blue and put criminals behind bars where they belong. Until Democrats stop coddling thugs and start protecting innocent people, even the mafia will keep looking for safer places to do business.
