White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dropped a truth bomb on Thursday that every American needs to hear. Chicago has been the murder capital of America for thirteen straight years under failed Democrat leadership. The numbers are so bad they make foreign war zones look safe by comparison.
For seven years running, Chicago has had the worst murder rate of any major American city. In 2024 alone, Chicago’s murder rate was three times higher than Los Angeles and nearly five times higher than New York City. These are American cities being outpaced by one Democrat disaster zone.
The comparison to foreign countries is absolutely shocking. Chicago’s murder rate is more than double that of Islamabad, Pakistan and nearly fifteen times higher than Delhi, India. When American cities are more dangerous than places most people consider unsafe, we have a serious problem that Democrats refuse to fix.
Out of nearly 148,000 crimes reported in Chicago this year, police have only made arrests in just 16 percent of cases. This means criminals are running wild while law-abiding citizens live in fear. More illegal guns have been recovered in Chicago than in New York City and Los Angeles combined.
Car thefts have more than doubled since 2021, showing how crime is spiraling completely out of control. Chicago officials have even been caught fudging their homicide numbers, which means the real situation is probably even worse than these terrible statistics show. The cover-up makes the crime even more shameful.
Governor JB Pritzker has completely failed the people of Chicago and Illinois. While he parades around claiming everything is fine, innocent people are dying on his watch every single day. His soft-on-crime policies have turned a great American city into a war zone.
President Trump is stepping in to do what local Democrats refuse to do. After launching a successful crime crackdown in Washington DC, Trump is now targeting Chicago for federal intervention. Real leadership means protecting Americans when local politicians abandon their duties.
This is what happens when Democrats run cities into the ground with their failed policies. Chicago residents deserve safety, not excuses from politicians who care more about politics than protecting lives. It is time for real change and real accountability in America’s cities.
