Another horrific attack has shaken America to its core. Yesterday morning in Minneapolis, a deranged shooter opened fire on innocent children and families who were simply trying to worship God. Two precious children, just 8 and 10 years old, lost their lives while 17 others were wounded in this evil assault on our faith.
The killer, identified as Robin Westman, came armed with multiple weapons and fired dozens of rounds through the stained glass windows of Annunciation Catholic Church. These children were attending their back-to-school Mass, a beautiful tradition that should have been a moment of joy and blessing. Instead, it became a nightmare that no family should ever endure.
This was not a random act of violence. The shooter left behind disturbing writings and videos showing deep hatred and radical ideologies. Evidence found at the scene included references to other mass shootings and symbols promoting extreme left-wing causes. This appears to be yet another case of someone poisoned by toxic ideologies targeting innocent Americans.
Our hearts break for these families who sent their children to a safe place of worship only to have evil invade their sanctuary. The heroic church staff immediately moved children under pews and evacuated them when it was safe. Their quick thinking likely saved many more young lives from this monster.
This attack represents everything wrong with our culture today. We have people filled with hate targeting Christians and children, the most vulnerable members of our society. When will enough be enough? When will we start protecting our houses of worship and our kids from these dangerous individuals?
The mainstream media will try to downplay the ideological motives behind this attack. They will focus on gun control instead of addressing the real problem: the moral decay eating away at our nation. We need to confront the radical ideas that are turning people into killers, not just blame the tools they use.
Pope Leo XIV has already sent his condolences to the victims and their families. Religious leaders across the country are calling for prayer and unity during this dark time. We must come together as Americans and Christians to support these grieving families and protect our communities from future attacks.
This senseless tragedy reminds us that evil exists in our world and we must stay vigilant. Our children should be able to pray without fear, and our churches should be safe havens for worship. We cannot let hate win or allow terrorists to destroy the sacred traditions that make America great.
