Another horrific wave of Christian genocide is happening in Nigeria right now. Radical Islamic militants are slaughtering innocent Christian families with machetes and fire. The world stays silent while hundreds of our Christian brothers and sisters are being butchered.
On June 13th, armed Fulani militants stormed a Christian settlement in Nigeria’s Benue State. They shouted “Allahu Akbar” as they set fire to buildings where Christian families were sleeping. Up to 200 people died in this three-hour killing spree, including children and elderly victims.
The attackers used fuel to burn down doors and trap families inside. Anyone who tried to escape was hacked to death with machetes. These weren’t soldiers or fighters – they were displaced Christian farmers seeking safety after previous attacks.
This wasn’t an isolated incident but part of a coordinated campaign of terror. Just days earlier, militants killed a 9-month-old Christian baby and her mother with machetes. Over 200 Christians died in coordinated attacks around Nigeria’s Democracy Day holiday.
The violence has been going on for months across Nigeria’s Christian heartland. On Palm Sunday in April, 56 Christians were massacred in another village attack. In July, 27 more Christians were buried after militants stormed their community at night.
Church leaders are calling this what it really is – genocide. Islamic militants are systematically trying to wipe out entire Christian communities and steal their land. The Nigerian government has completely failed to protect its Christian citizens from this religious war.
Where is the international outrage over this Christian holocaust? If 200 Muslims were burned alive by Christian militants, every news channel would be covering it non-stop. But when Christians are slaughtered for their faith, the mainstream media looks the other way.
American Christians must demand action from our government. We cannot let radical Islam continue this campaign of extermination against our fellow believers. Nigeria’s Christians need our prayers, our voices, and our government’s intervention before it’s too late.
