Moroccan Man Risks Life to Convert to Christianity Amid Brutal Oppression

A brave Moroccan man recently shared his dangerous journey from Islam to Christianity on CBN News. He had to hide his face and disguise his voice because his life is now in danger. This is the harsh reality facing Christians in Muslim-majority countries like Morocco.

Converting from Islam to Christianity in Morocco can be a death sentence. While the country claims to allow religious freedom, the truth is much darker. Muslims who leave their faith face serious threats from both religious authorities and their own families.

Morocco does not officially make leaving Islam illegal under its criminal law. But the government has other ways to punish converts. Anyone who tries to change a Muslim’s faith can go to prison for up to three years.

In 2013, Morocco’s top religious council issued a shocking order. They declared that Muslims who abandon Islam should be put to death. While the government later backed away from this extreme position, the damage was already done.

Secret police watch converts closely and investigate anyone who speaks out against Islam. One young man who became an atheist had to flee to England after criticizing Islam publicly. He was sentenced to seven years in prison just for expressing his beliefs.

This religious oppression should outrage every freedom-loving American. We take our constitutional rights for granted while brave souls like Peter risk everything just to follow Jesus. Their courage puts our own faith to shame.

America was founded on the principle that every person has the right to worship God according to their conscience. We must never let radical Islam or any other force destroy this precious freedom. Our founding fathers would be horrified by what converts face in places like Morocco.

We need to pray for persecuted Christians around the world and support organizations fighting for religious liberty. Peter’s story reminds us that freedom is never free and faith sometimes requires the ultimate sacrifice. Every American should be thankful we can worship openly and defend others who cannot.
