The officials thanked these heroes for their service while enjoying lunch together at the station’s Shake Shack.

Since Trump’s federal intervention began just nine days ago, violent crime has dropped by an incredible 35 percent and robberies have been cut by more than half. Vance and White House Deputy Stephen Miller handled the leftist hecklers perfectly by calling them exactly what they are: crazy communists. These protesters hate the idea that everyday Americans should be able to walk safely through their own communities. They would rather see chaos and crime than admit Trump’s policies work.
The Vice President shared his own frightening experience at Union Station from just a few years ago when violent vagrants screamed at his family. This personal story shows how bad things had gotten under Democrat control. Now families can actually visit this symbol of American greatness without fear.
When asked why troops were stationed at Union Station instead of other high-crime areas, Vance explained that homeless camps had taken over this important landmark. Visitors couldn’t feel safe at what should be a monument to our nation’s achievements. Common sense says you protect the places where Americans gather and travel.
The timing of this visit was no accident, happening while D.C.’s liberal Mayor Muriel Bowser held her own press conference. Bowser and her fellow Democrats have spent years making excuses for rising crime while Trump takes action. The contrast couldn’t be clearer between failed liberal policies and successful conservative solutions.
This visit proves that strong leadership and support for law enforcement can turn around even the most crime-ridden areas. Our National Guard members deserve our gratitude for stepping up where local politicians failed. When America puts safety first and backs our heroes in uniform, we win every time.
