Zohran Mamdani’s radical socialist policies are a direct threat to New York City’s future. Kevin O’Leary, the successful businessman from Shark Tank, warned that Mamdani’s plans would accelerate the city’s decline. Hardworking New Yorkers should be very concerned about this dangerous agenda.
Mamdani wants to raise taxes on job creators to extreme levels. His plan hits businesses with an 11.5% corporate tax and slaps a new 2% tax on hardworking citizens earning over $1 million. This punishing approach will drive away the very people who create jobs in our city.
The socialist candidate promises free buses and rent freezes that sound nice but aren’t realistic. He ignores that New York City doesn’t control these areas. State lawmakers in Albany would have to approve his ideas, and they’ve already rejected similar plans before. Mamdani is making promises he can’t keep.
His housing plan would let city government seize private property from landlords. Rather than supporting property rights, he wants bureaucrats to take control of buildings. This government takeover threatens the foundation of our free market system and scares away investors.
Mamdani even wants city-run grocery stores, showing his obsession with government control. He’s pushing a $30 minimum wage that would crush small businesses. These extreme ideas come straight from the socialist playbook and ignore real-world economics.
The Democratic Socialists of America are already planning how to pressure Albany to pass Mamdani’s tax hikes. They want to use street protests and bully tactics to force through their agenda. This outside group doesn’t care about New York’s best interests.
O’Leary is right that Mamdani’s policies would hurt New York. Chasing away successful people and businesses with high taxes always backfires. We’ve seen socialist experiments fail everywhere they’ve been tried, destroying economies and freedoms.
New York must reject this dangerous path. Mamdani’s radical vision would make our great city weaker, poorer, and less free. We need common-sense leadership that protects taxpayers and keeps New York thriving.
