New York City Crowns ‘Top Pigeon’ as Taxpayer Dollars Go to Waste

New York City saw something truly bizarre last weekend at the High Line’s Pigeon Fest. Taxpayer dollars helped fund a contest where grown adults dressed as pigeons and strutted around for prizes. This waste of city resources crowned a British artist named Miriam as “Top Pigeon of NYC” after she spent a month building a costume that blocked her own vision and hearing. Real New Yorkers scratch their heads watching this nonsense while our streets crumble.

The so-called Pigeon Impersonation Pageant featured seven participants competing to act like city birds. They were judged on silly things like “plumage” and “squawking” by a panel of “experts.” This spectacle took place next to a giant pigeon statue unveiled last year. Instead of fixing subways or stopping crime, liberal elites throw festivals for flying rats. Hardworking families just want safe neighborhoods and clean parks.

Miriam won despite admitting her costume made it hard to see or hear. She called it art. Most New Yorkers call it madness. Our city used to be about ambition and productivity. Now we celebrate people pretending to be pests. This isn’t culture. It’s a sign of decay. Parents wonder what message this sends to kids watching adults play dress-up as nuisance birds.

The High Line claims this promoted “urban wildlife.” Real conservationists know pigeons spread disease and damage property. True patriots care about eagles, not filthy street birds. This festival ignored actual problems facing city birds like habitat loss. Instead, it made a joke out of nature. Conservatives understand real stewardship means practical solutions, not clown shows.

Insiders reveal this pageant cost significant public funds through arts grants. While small businesses struggle to survive, the city bankrolled pigeon impersonators. This is where liberal priorities lie. They’ll spend on freak shows but won’t fund police or fix potholes. Taxpayers deserve better than watching their money go to feather costumes.

Even the organizers admit this was a one-time stunt. The High Line’s director said they’re “moving on to the next thing” after this embarrassment. That tells you everything. It was never about community or conservation. It was a publicity grab using our city’s reputation. New York deserves leaders who respect its dignity, not turn it into a laughingstock.

Where does this end? First pigeon pageants, tomorrow rat parades? This festival celebrates the very pests that plague our sidewalks. Real New Yorkers want cleaner streets, not festivals glorifying the birds that soil them. Our city used to represent toughness and achievement. Now it’s becoming a zoo for weirdos and their absurd performances.

This event sums up everything wrong with liberal-run cities. They focus on frivolous nonsense instead of fundamentals. While they throw pigeon parties, hardworking Americans worry about jobs, safety, and providing for their families. It’s time to demand leaders who share those priorities and stop wasting our time and money on degeneracy disguised as art.
