Sam Smith and Kim Petras, who are both non-binary artists, performed their song "Unholy" at the Grammy Awards. The performance featured a sexy and edgier version of the song.
Since coming out as a non-binary individual in 2019, Smith has been nominated for various awards. On Sunday, he and Petras were given the award for best Pop duo/group performance. When they were 16 years old, they underwent a sex change operation in Germany.
The song "Unholy," which is about a husband who cheated on his wife, was performed by Petras and Smith. Both of them wore erotic outfits, with Smith dressing up as Satan.
Showbiz 411 was informed that before the performance, an industry source warned that it would be "over the top" and "crazy." This would likely upset Christians, who would call CBS to voice their outrage.

Watching these Satanists out in the open makes me want to go to church and I’ve not even been in a couple of decades.

The reaction from conservative users was very negative. They called the entire music industry "garbage" and "demonic." Some noted that the performance was sponsored by pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
As Smith accepted the award, he let Petras speak all the way through. She thanked various transgender individuals, including a deceased hyperpop artist named Sophie. She also thanked Madonna for fighting for LGBTQ rights.
Last month, Smith was criticized after his new music video for "I'm Not Here To Make Friends" featured him dancing around in a corset and nipple tassles.
In her last EP, "Slut Pop," Petras talked about her ability to perform blow jobs and defended Smith's controversial music video.
"According to Petras, Pop music has always been about being authentic and being yourself, which she feels is going "backward" due to how people are being restricted when it comes to expressing their sexuality. She also praised Smith, who she says is one of the nicest people she has ever met."
