On Wednesday, Pepsi introduced a new citrus-lime drink called “Starry,” which will compete against Coca-Cola’S Sprite.
The new drink, which is free of caffeine, has a zero-sugar version. Some of its variants have already been sold in stores.
A representative of PepsiCo said that the new drink has higher citrus flavors and more aromatics than Sierra Mist. It also has a more balanced and crisp taste.
“Due to the increasing popularity of lemon lime flavored drinks, PepsiCo noted that it has seen a demand for this type of product. The company’s marketing chief said that consumers deserve a different type of drink. With that in mind, PepsiCo’s new product, which is called “Starry,” is designed to be both bright and optimistic.”
The Federal Trade Commission opened an investigation regarding PepsiCo’s pricing practices. The company had raised its prices by an average of 17% in the previous year. It is currently the second-largest player in the soft drink market after Coca-Cola.
In response to the investigation, PepsiCo said it would be cutting hundreds of jobs in order to simplify its operations. The company currently has about 309,000 employees globally and 129,000 in the US.
