On Tuesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he was asking the state's Supreme Court to appoint a grand jury to investigate the allegations of corruption against the Covid healthcare company.
During a panel discussion about the side effects of the shots, DeSantis said that there needed to be more information about how the company marketed the products to the public. He also called on the state's prosecutors to hold accountable those involved in the scheme.
In Florida, it is illegal to misrepresent the effectiveness of a drug. DeSantis noted that the investigation would look into how the company marketed the products to the public. The grand jury would also look into how the individuals involved in the scheme were able to get away with it.
In response to the allegations, the governor noted that he was confident that the Supreme Court would approve his request. He also said that the investigation would be conducted in the Tampa Bay area.

During the panel discussion, the governor also announced the creation of a public health integrity committee, which will reportedly look into the policies and guidance issued by the federal agencies responsible for regulating the healthcare industry. Some of the members of the committee include Jay Bhattacharya, a professor at Stanford University, and Joseph Fraiman, a Louisiana emergency room doctor.
The governor noted that there has been a lot of faith lost in public health, and he wanted to make sure that the committee had people who could actually rely on.
In Florida, the public has been able to get more information about the potential side effects of the mRNA injections. In October, the office of the state's health commissioner updated its guidance regarding the Covid injections. It noted that the shots should not be given to individuals aged 18 to 39 who are prone to cardio-related death.
In March, the Department of Health advised against giving the flu shots to children under 18 years old due to the potential risks of severe illness. Other factors such as the prevalence of immunity and myocarditis were also considered.
