There were a lot of bad news stories last week, but one bright spot was reportedly the ruling by a federal court in Texas that prevented former Vice President Joe Biden from carrying out his plan to forgive student loans.
The plan, which was supposed to cost around $500 billion, was never approved by Congress. Now, Biden’s administration has reportedly prevented people from filing applications to have their student loans erased.
The ruling is a big indication that the White House is expected to lose this battle. Since Biden has been so overreaching, it’s a good bet that he will eventually get caught up in the US Supreme Court, which will eventually decide his case. The president does not have the power to impose new debt on the country to benefit a small group of people. Making a welder pay for pre-med student's vacation is obscene.
Despite Biden's plan not being able to go into effect, the damage caused by his student loan scam has already been done. During the 2022 election, many young people flocked to the Democratic Party, thinking that the government would help them with their debts. This belief led to a non-negligible effect in helping the Democrats defeat the red wave that was predicted to happen during the previous election.
Despite the ruling that prevented Biden from carrying out his plan to forgive student loans, he is still expected to get away with it. Because of his illegal actions, the president was able to buy an election.
The abuses of power that are being made are obscene. For instance, if the goal of a candidate is to win a mid-term election, sign an order giving away thousands of free items. By the time the people realize that they aren't receiving the promised free stuff, their votes will already be in the bag. Or, how about taking the country's strategic oil reserves and using the power of a pen to artificially lower the price of gas?
The way people ignore the voices of the right is just another example of how little people care about the issues affecting the country. Biden used his office to influence the results of the election, and the worst that can happen to him is to get caught up in a legal argument. Until there are consequences for presidents who intentionally ignore the law, things will only get worse.
