It's possible that a lot of people are unaware of this, but the Gutfeld show on FOX recently achieved 2.5 million viewers, making it the highest rated show in the history of television. And it hasn't escaped Donald Trump's attention.
The current ratings king of late night television, who has a show on FOX News, has received accolades from the President of the United States.
According to FORBES, Gutfeld! beat not only other cable late-night shows but also high-profile broadcast networks' late-night shows with 2.494 million total viewers and 396,000 in the key demographic group of adults 25-54. Gutfeld! also had the most viewers in the key demographic group of adults 25-54.
Forbes contributor Mark Joyella posed the question to Gutfeld executive producer Tom O'Connor in September, wanting to know what O'Connor believed was drawing viewers to Fox News in the late night hours. O'Connor gave this response in response to the question: "Part of the reason for that is the audience has really connected with some of the new guests we've introduced them to, but also they've gotten to watch certain FNC stars let their hair down for an hour."
The rest of the Late Night Shows eventually followed his example.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS came in a close second with 2.1 million total viewers and 375,000 people in the target demographic. Next in line was NBC's The Tonight Show with 1.289 million viewers and 318,000 viewers in the demo, while ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live rounded out the top three (1.285 million total viewers and 287,000 in the demo).
In comparison, Gutfeld! was the undisputed champion of late-night cable news, with The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC finishing in second place with 953,000 total viewers and 94,000 viewers in the key demo.
Overall, only 412,000 people tuned in to see CNN Tonight, but the program trounced MSNBC in the demo with 101,000 views. There were a total of 443,000 viewers who watched The Daily Show, and there were 182,000 viewers who fit into the key demo audience.
2 On TRUTH Social, Trump congratulated Greg on his victory, saying, Great going Greg, beating the highly overpaid, not humorous slimeballs by a lot.
The only response that Gutfeld provided to the ratings was the tweet "BAM!"
Not every FOX News program was as successful as Gutfeld! in terms of ratings.
4 With an average of 3.4 million viewers per episode, "The Five" maintained its position as the most popular cable news program for the seventh consecutive month. Over the course of the last ten out of the previous eleven months, the roundtable discussion program that Greg Gutfeld also co-hosts has finished in first place in cable news.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that a large number of people are watching Gutfeld! After all, it's a welcome departure from the usual late-night roster, which is typically comprised of hate speech directed at liberals and tired jokes. Instead, viewers are given a delightful hour filled with humorous lighthearted and irreverent jokes. In addition, there is something for everyone to enjoy thanks to the show's combination of new guests and familiar characters from Fox News. It is very evident that the audience has discovered a new favorite for the late night hours, and President Trump is absolutely correct to offer praise for the success of this endeavor. Greg, don't let up on the gas here. We can't get enough.
