Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer shut down a ridiculous request from two California and Florida Democrats who wanted taxpayers to fund their trip to El Salvador. These liberals wanted to visit a prison holding deportees – including an MS-13 suspect ordered out of America by President Trump’s immigration policies.
Comer rightly declared he won’t approve “a single dime” for this political stunt. Democrats have spent years attacking border security and defending illegal immigrants. Now they want a free vacation to coddle foreign gang members? This is the same party that let violent criminals flood our streets through sanctuary cities.
While Republicans toured El Salvador’s maximum-security prison to support Trump’s deportation success, Democrats tried to sneak in their own junket. Their plan involved “oversight” of a facility housing dangerous deportees – including Kilmar Abrego Garcia. This gang affiliate was properly removed after courts confirmed his threats to public safety.
The Supreme Court recently demanded Garcia’s return due to a paperwork technicality, but Republicans aren’t backing down. Meanwhile, a Maryland Democrat senator already visited Garcia for photo ops, proving liberals care more about criminals than citizens. The deportee appeared healthy sipping drinks with politicians – no crisis exists except in Democrat imaginations.
President Trump’s policies cleaned up our streets by ejecting violent gang members. Now Biden’s allies want to undo that progress. They’re using taxpayer funds to grandstand instead of securing the border. Every dollar wasted on these trips could instead support ICE agents or border wall construction.
Democrats cry “civil rights” while ignoring Americans murdered by illegal immigrant gang violence. They want open borders and taxpayer-funded perks for their radical base. Comer’s refusal to bankroll this trip shows Republicans putting America First. Let the liberals pay for their own vacation if they love foreign criminals so much.
