Elon Musk and President Trump are teaming up to fix government waste. They say they’re cracking down on how your tax dollars get spent. Andy McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor, backs their plan. He says it’s about time someone held the government accountable.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Musk, found shocking examples of waste. One federal office processes retirements in an old limestone mine using paper files. Workers haul boxes by elevator 230 feet underground. Musk called it a “time warp” slowing down retirements for thousands of workers every month.
Democrats are fighting hard to stop DOGE’s work. Fourteen liberal attorneys general sued Musk, claiming he has “unchecked power.” But McCarthy slammed the lawsuit as nonsense. He said Trump has full authority to clean up the executive branch. “The courts don’t run the government—the president does,” McCarthy argued.
DOGE uncovered $20 billion wasted by Biden’s EPA. Officials rushed to spend cash on pet projects before Trump took office. EPA chief Lee Zeldin called it a “scheme” to throw taxpayer money away. Musk vowed to recover every penny wasted by what he calls “unelected bureaucrats.”
President Trump signed an order forcing agencies to reveal every canceled contract or grant. He says taxpayers deserve to know where their money goes. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt praised DOGE for doing what Democrats only talked about. “Trump is actually delivering,” she said on Fox News.
Critics claim DOGE is trying to “destroy” the government. But McCarthy says that’s fake news. He argues progressives hate accountability because it exposes their wasteful spending. “The Biden administration tossed gold bars off the Titanic with your money,” McCarthy said, blasting left-wing priorities like funding sex changes overseas.
Musk admitted mistakes might happen but promised quick fixes. “We’re moving fast to save your cash,” he told reporters beside Trump. The president joked about finding 150-year-old Social Security recipients who “should be in Guinness World Records.” Both men say they’ll keep slashing fraud despite liberal judges blocking their efforts.
Conservatives cheer this cleanup push as long overdue. With $4.7 trillion in payments now tracked properly, Trump and Musk say sunlight is the best disinfectant. As McCarthy put it: “The people voted for change—and they’re finally getting it.” For hardworking Americans tired of funding woke projects, that’s music to their ears.
